Though credited as coauthors of this work, Elton and his lyricist respectively penned only an 18-word dedication and an almost equally cursory text. The majority of the book consists of David Nutter’s predominantly black and whtie photos of Elton, who (flashy apparel notwithstanding) proves to be a rather mundane subject. His biggest fans may want this anyway but the back-cover claim that no rock star has previously authorized “such a candid exploration of his private life” is more than “a little bit funny.”
