Music Review: Crystal Gayle’s ‘True Love’

Crystal Gayle's True Love

Crystal Gayle lacks the gutsiness, innovation, and songwriting talents of big sister Loretta Lynn, but she has sizable talents of her own—like compelling, emotion-drenched vocals, a mostly good ear for material, and an ability to gracefully walk the line between country and pop. Among the highlights: Reece Kirk’s “Our Love Is On the Faultline” and Rodney Crowell’s “Till I Gain Control Again,” the latter featuring harmony vocals by the composer.
