Like several previous Alan Parsons Project albums, Eve offers an impressive and occasionally breathtaking aural ambiance. If you’re looking for substance, though, look elsewhere. Parsons’s studio wizardry is undeniable, but after a few listens, his lush sonic landscapes seem less than enough to compensate for prosaic rock melodies and vocalists, not to mention the inanity of Eve’s lyrics (which ostensibly comprise a song cycle about women). My stereo has never sounded better, but I’m bored, anyway.
