Like its several predecessors, Eve offers an impressive and occasionally breathtaking aural ambiance. If you’re looking for substance, though, look elsewhere. Parsons’s studio wizardry is undeniable, but after a few listens, his lush sonic landscapes seem less than enough to compensate for prosaic rock melodies and vocalists, not to mention the inanity of Eve’s lyrics (which ostensibly comprise a song cycle about women). My stereo has never sounded better, but I’m bored, anyway.
