Record Review: Robin Williams’s ‘Reality…What a Concept’

Reality...What a Concept

Though Reality…What a Concept finds Robin Williams repeatedly addressing himself to “those of you on drugs,” his bizarre, high-speed imagination might make you suspect that he has consumed more intoxicants than everyone in the audience put together.

Be that as it may, this first album from TV’s “Mork” certainly deserves a listen. While some of its bits owe too much to obvious sources and others simply cry out for a visual context, you will get your money’s worth in laughs. Particularly on tracks like “Shakespeare (A Meltdowner’s Nightmare),” moreover, you’ll hear convincing evidence that Williams’s talent extends way beyond the confines of his television role.
