Given Elvis Presley‘s recent lack of interest in recording, I can understand RCA’s decision to fill the gap with recycled material like the live and studio tracks on this latest LP. What I can’t accept is a full-price tag on Welcome to My World, an album that looks and smells budget-line. Presley’s raw talent remains untarnished here, in any case, and the program includes such excellent compositions as “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” But the Howard Hughes of rock has clearly stopped caring. And this shoddily packaged set, which clocks in at just over 27 minutes, finds him at his spiritless worst.
