Music Review: The Eagles Check into ‘Hotel California’

Having taken its “Peaceful Easy Feeling” to the limit on previous albums, the Eagles opt for a harder, more adventurous sound throughout much of Hotel California. Some of its melodies prove less indelible than those on One of These Nights. But the musicianship and vocals, particularly on “The Last Resort” and “New Kid in Town,” are first-rate. And veteran guitarist Joe Walsh, who has replaced Bernie Leadon in the lineup, meshes remarkably well with his new cohorts.
