Andy Pratt‘s first recording in more than three years should establish the idiosyncratic singer/songwriter as a pop music mainstay. Like its predecessor, the new album charts complex, completely original vocal, rhythmic, and melodic territory. But the aptly titled Resolution is a much more joyous and sophisticated affair than the artist’s last package. Brilliantly (and expensively) produced by Arif Mardin, the new disc is permeated with lush harmonies, humorous lyrical touches, surprising modulations, and emotive instrumental parts. Don’t miss it.
