Milking its limited supply of unreleased Elvis Presley tunes for all they’re worth and then some, RCA apparently plans to give us only one or two such numbers on each of what will undoubtedly be a long string of “new” albums. This time around, on Our Memories of Elvis, Volume 2, the vaults yield a pleasant, unspectacular extended version of Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”; filling out the set are such late-1970s releases as “Way Down” and “I Can Help.” A few of them more than hint at Presley’s massive talent, and all have been improved by the removal of the original releases’ “sweetening tracks.” Nevertheless, the bulk of this package suffers from the MOR leanings and halfhearted vocal approach that characterized Elvis’s decline.
