Music Review: Richard Thompson’s ‘Live (More or Less)’

Richard Thompson's Live (More or Less)

Fans of the Fairport Convention, which Richard Thompson cofounded, should be particularly delighted with his new double LP, Live (More or Less). Drawing heavily on British folk traditions while evidencing the singer’s love for rock, the package shows him to be an imaginative writer and dexterous guitarist. The first two sides feature I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight, a variously somber and joyous 1974 album by the artist and vocalist/wife Linda that has until now been available only as an import. On the second disc, you’ll find 25 minutes of live electric work and other previously unreleased material.
